This collection consists of 1/2 Reale and 1 Reale silver cobs, each individually hand-struck centuries ago during the Spanish colonial period. The coins display the irregular shapes, hand-cut planchets, and individually struck designs characteristic of early Spanish colonial coinage.
What makes this group especially interesting is its provenance: these coins were personally recovered on land near St. Augustine, Florida, on privately owned property with the property owner's permission.
