These authentic 1/2 Reale silver cobs date to the 1600s–1700s and originate from Peru, where they were recently discovered by metal detectorists along historic areas associated with the Spanish Mule Trails.
The mule trails were critical arteries of Spain's colonial treasure network, carrying silver, coinage, supplies, and other valuables between settlements, mining regions, and ports throughout Spanish America.
Each 1/2 Reale was individually struck by hand centuries ago. Their irregular shapes, imperfect strikes, toning, wear, and surviving details are part of what makes these coins so distinctive.
