Two genuine 1715 Fleet silver cobs, still fused together after more than three centuries beneath the Atlantic.
An exceptional piece of 1715 Fleet history: two genuine Spanish silver cobs still adhered to one another after more than 300 years underwater. The clump contains one 8 Reales silver cob and one 4 Reales silver cob.
The two coins remain naturally joined from their time on the ocean floor, creating a highly unusual artifact that preserves the story of the wreck in a way an individual coin cannot.
These coins are associated with the famous 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet, destroyed by a hurricane off the coast of Florida on July 31, 1715 while carrying enormous quantities of treasure from the New World back to Spain.
Unlike separated shipwreck coins, this clump remains in its recovered configuration, making it an especially compelling display piece for collectors of shipwreck treasure, Spanish colonial coinage, and pirate-era artifacts.
